SCIENTOLOGY VOLUNTEER MINISTERS
Across the world, Scientology Volunteer Ministers work on a volunteer basis to restore hope and well-being to society, and demonstrate that something can be done about it.
Scientology Volunteer Ministers helped restore order and provided succor to those who suffered grief and loss in New York.
They worked shoulder to shoulder with police, firefighters and the Red Cross.

The Volunteer Minister program was developed by
L. Ron Hubbard in New York in 1976 as a solution to the devastating cultural effects wrought by modern-day materialistic views.
He found that belief in man as a spiritual being had been attacked as “impractical” and “primitive,” giving way to a new school of thought: man the animal.
The result was purely societal barbarism — violent crime, most of it drug related, rose more than five hundred percent, divorce rates quadrupled and teenage suicides doubled.
The answer to this decay lay in the restoration of spiritual values.
As Mr. Hubbard wrote, “A Volunteer Minister is a person who helps his fellow man on a volunteer basis by restoring purpose, truth and spiritual values to the lives of others.
“A Volunteer Minister does not shut his eyes to the pain, evil and injustice of existence. Rather, he is trained to handle these things and help others achieve relief from them and new personal strength as well.
“How does a Volunteer Minister accomplish these miracles? Basically, he uses the technology of Scientology to change conditions for the better — for himself, his family, his groups, friends, associates and for mankind.”
And hundreds of Scientology Volunteer Ministers did just that in New York on September 11th, 2001.
Their efforts were met with appreciation from city officials and they were acknowledged for their hard work and selfless dedication.
